Day 19 of Advent, New Richmond United Methodist Church
Day 18 of Advent
Day 17
Wednesday 12/17
Luke 5:31 – 32
31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
One of my favorite parts of our communion liturgy is the part that says “Christ died for us while we were yet sinners, that proves God’s love for towards us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven”. Then the congregation responds by repeating “In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven”. We need to remind ourselves of this daily. That we cannot nor can we ever earn our salvation. It is a gift of free grace to all sinners. And yes, that means you.
