New Richmond United Methodist Church
December 7, 2025 - Pastor Harry Zurasky
2nd Sunday of Advent
We have just dedicated our sanctuary after this summer’s renovation.  It was a journey of patience, and our new worship space looks great.
We are headed into Advent in preparations for the coming of the messiah.  Both celebrating Jesus birth and Christ coming again. I would like to invite any that wish to come and join us for worship Sunday at 10:00 am.  We have all heard the phrase putting Christ back in Christmas.  This year I am going to take this a step further.  Let us put Christ back in Christian.  It is not enough to celebrate Jesus at Christmas and then lose sight of his teachings the rest of the year.
In this time of Advent, we will also be looking at a scripture each day of advent.  I will be posting that scripture with a short reflection each day.  Join us in this journey.  Take time each day with us to listen and reflect on God’s word.  This will be posted on the Facebook page each day.  Sharing your comment and reflections are welcome.

Scripture for Sunday December 14, 2025
Repent or Perish
13 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
Scripture for Sunday December 7, 2025 & November 30, 2025
Matthew 22:35-40
35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Upcoming Events & Announcements

The Meadville Tribune did a nice article about our church renovations

On December 7 Woodcock UMC is hosting a Community Sing at 3:00 pm and our choir is singing.  Refreshments after.

The Caring Tree for Maplewood Elementary Kids is in the back.  We have 3 children this year.  2 girls and 1 boy.  Take a tag to buy a gift and return the gift wrapper with the tag taped to the outside of it so we know who get it.  We are 1 of several area churches that have participated for over 40 years in the outreach.  Tricia, the school nurse at Maplewood Elementary coordinates it.  Return the gifts to the church no later than December 21 so Pastor Harry and Ann can deliver them before Christmas.  Thank you for your generosity.

The Ladies Christmas party in this Friday, December 12 at 12 noon here at the church.  Laurie is making soup and we can each bring a dish to share and a Christmas memory to share.  All ladies are invited.

Christmas Flowers:  We invite you to bring in your Christmas flowers anytime, poinsettias, etc to help decorate our sanctuary for Christmas.  You may make them in memory of, or in honor of someone.  A sign-up sheet is in the back of the church.

Tuesday, December 23 at 7 pm:  Country Christmas Eve Eve Candlelight Service.  Pastor Harry will deliver the message; the choir will sing and we’ll have candlelight singing of Silent Night to remember Jesus’ birth.  Everyone is welcome.
