Advent Candle Lighting & Reading:  PEACE

Congregational Response
All:  Today, we choose to live the story of peace, believing that true peace comes when we seek the flourishing of all God's creation.

Preparing Our Spirit:  Child In The Manger             Choir

(Unison Opening Prayer please stand)  Loving God, Loving God, today in this quiet place, we wait for You.  We pray to quiet our inner thoughts, to listen for your voice as you speak to us.  We thank you for the peace that lies within us.  The peace that is possible in your Presence.  Alleluia, Amen!

Opening Praise:  O Come, O Come Emmanuel  Page 211

Responsive Reading:                                     Pastor Harry

Leader: You have heard it said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy."
People:  But we say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Leader:  Because hatred paralyzes life; love releases it.  Hatred confused live; love harmonizes it.
People:  Hatred darkens life; love shines His Great Light on it.
All:  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Might God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Song of Praise:  Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Our Announcements

The Caring Tree for Maplewood Elementary Kids is in the back.  We have 3 children this year.  2 girls and 1 boy.  Take a tag to buy a gift and return the gift wrapper with the tag taped to the outside of it so we know who get it.  We are 1 of several area churches that have participated for over 40 years in the outreach.  Tricia, the school nurse at Maplewood Elementary coordinates it.  Return the gifts to the church no later than December 21 so Pastor Harry and Ann can deliver them before Christmas.  Thank you for your generosity.

Today,  December 7 Woodcock UMC is hosting a Community Sing at 3:00 pm and our choir is singing.  Refreshments after.

The Ladies Christmas party in this Friday, December 12 at 12 noon here at the church.  Laurie is making soup and we can each bring a dish to share and a Christmas memory to share.  All ladies are invited.

Christmas Flowers:  We invite you to bring in your Christmas flowers anytime, poinsettias, etc to help decorate our sanctuary for Christmas.  You may make them in memory of, or in honor of someone.  A sign-up sheet is in the back of the church.

Tuesday, December 23 at 7 pm:  Country Christmas Eve Eve Candlelight Service.  Pastor Harry will deliver the message; the choir will sing and we’ll have candlelight singing of Silent Night to remember Jesus’ birth.  Everyone is welcome.
