Important Church Dinner/Meeting
Due to a change in the Book of Discipline at this year's General Conference regarding LGBTQ inclusion in ministry. Our Annual Conference passed legislation that requires each church within the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference to designate their church's individual stance with regards to same sex marriages and the ordination of LGBTQ individuals into the ministry. This legislation has created a way for those on differing beliefs in these areas to continue to work together within the United Methodist Church. To do this we have been asked to discern where we as a congregation stand on these issues and to designate this to the conference.
The three designations are Traditional, Blended and Progressive Households. There is a handout on the back table for those that wish to read up on this. We are also planning to have an informational meeting October 13 at 5 pm. We will have a covered dish dinner and then meet afterwards to discuss the different households and to take a survey as to where we as a congregation stand.
Please mark this date on your calendar and try hard to attend. This is a very important meeting for this church and our way forward within the United Methodist denomination.
