Day 3 of Advent
Wednesday 12/3
1 Peter 1:13 NLT
“So, prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.”
This scripture reminds us that we are to serve God with actions. Not just talk about our love of God and Jesus but to put that love into motion. In science we talk about potential versus kinetic energy. The same could be said for faith. Are you being kinetic, are moving and doing, or are you living in the potential, waiting.
But we must remember in that movement to exercise self-control. We cannot be like a bull in a China shop moving clumsily breaking things. We must follow John Wesley’s three rules:
First - Do no harm
Second - Do good
Third - Stay in love with God
In this way we live into the hope of salvation for the world promised by God through Jesus the Christ.
