In the time of Joshua there were gods for everything. In a quick google search I found 26 named gods from different ancient cultures. And these are the ones that were remembered. Today our gods are different. They are the god of personal power, wealth, popularity and many others. The most prominent is the god of self.
The question remains the same today as in the time of Joshua โwhom will you serveโ. This is that pesky free will thing again. God will not force or coerce your choice to serve Him. We must all conclude as Joshua, โ๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ก๐จ๐ฅ๐, ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐.โ And this is done by being a servant first to others as Jesus commanded us to be.
