2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Part of repentance is the act of humbling oneself.  We must admit our sins and the source of those sins.  And once we have accepted our own Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Glutton or Lust (yes these are the seven deadly sins) we must ask for God’s forgiveness.  No, not everyone does each of these, but we all have committed one or more of these sins at some time.  But what is most hopeful is that the grace of God is sufficient to see us through.

Because of Jesus and his sacrifice that he has made for you these sins will be forgiven just as it says in this scripture.  When we sin, we damage our souls. With our repentance God heals that soul.  Have faith in God’s grace and forgive yourself and vow to continue to work towards your own sanctification.
