Day 10 of Advent
Wednesday 12/10
Proverbs 11:25
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
Proverbs 19:17
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.
Many have asked over the years the question, what’s in it for me. And this is the motive for all their actions in their life. But as we explore loving our neighbor as ourselves in the way that God commanded, we are learning that we were created to love just as God is love. We are reminded in these two verses from Proverbs that we are rewarded by God for this love.
There is a phrase that says you get what you give. If you are forgiving, kind and loving then those things will be returned to you. The opposite of that is also true. If you love your neighbor as yourself, you will love yourself in return and in so doing know the love of God. and in this then. you will know the true and live the promised fruits of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22 – 23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
